The elements line and script that I explore in TransMigration and Transcription interact and coexist in TransPlace - line as time-travel and script as stairways. Like a shaman, I paint within, around and through these painted spaces tying the stories of my forbearers to rituals and memories. I connect fluid spaces to undiscovered places within to make meaning of the world without. Painting in silence with no preconceptions, drawings or ideas, I rely on what I know and feel about the natural worlds, and my place in it through the process of call and response. It is a rhythmic dance on the canvas that opens up various forms of consciousness by making visible the invisible, by finding harmony through struggle, and coming to terms with both rest and unrest.
